Uses: Laundry is the most popular application. Soapnuts are low foaming, easy to rinse, and naturally a fabric conditioner.

To use in the laundry: place 4 to 6 of the larger soap nuts pieces in the 3x5 cotton bag provided. Drop the bag with the soap nut pieces in your washing machine. Wash. * For an extra fresh smelling wash, many customers put a drop or two of Lavender or Tea Tree essential oil in the bag before washing.

* If you have hard or soft water don't forget we also sell Soda Ash a great laundry booster! And try white vinegar. It is also an excellent inexpensive natural additives to your soap nnuts to help give a cleansing boost and adjust water Ph levels and to soften water. Both are totally safe, and natural.

- You may use standard stain removers, cleaning boosters, bleaches and/or additives if desired. A subsequent wash with soap nuts will reduce any residue remaining from such chemical products.

Warm/Hot Water

Use 2 Soap Nuts in the cotton sack per medium load.

Cold Water

Try using 4 to 5 medium to large Soap Nuts pieces and re-use them 2-3 times. OR pre-soak 2 Soap Nuts in the cotton sack in hot water for a few minutes. Add some of the “tea” and sack to your cold wash load.

Heavy Soils

Pre-soak 5 to 6 5 Soap Nuts pieces in the cotton sack in hot water for a few minutes. Add the “tea” and sack to your wash load. Add fewer clothes to your machine so the fabric has room to agitate.

Whites

For extra stain removal, try adding a scoop of oxygen bleach, or white vinegar.

We also offer the muslin wash bags separately as needed. great for storage and for doing the laundry. * If you do not have the handy cotton bags on hand an old cotton sock will work well.

For General Cleaning - make a tea out of the soapnuts!

Make a liquid soap nuts "tea" to use as a cleaner -

* Cooking method - Simmer 1/2 cup of Soap Nuts on the stove in 2 cups of water for 8 to 10 minutes. (it is not a problem if the mixture suds and bubbles over- you'll just have a very clean stove) After the soapnuts have simmered 8 to 10 minutes, turn off the heat and cover and allow the "tea" to cool. Then mash the nuts with your hands, and just strain the resulting liquid into a bottle through a fine sieve or cheesecloth.(wider the mouth the easier it is)

Soaking Method to make the soapnuts "tea" - Soak 1/2 cup of Soap Nuts in 2 cups water overnight - or 6 to 8 hours. Then liquefy the mixture in your blender. Lastly, strain the liquid into a bottle through a very fine sieve or cheesecloth.

A few ideas on how to use use the liquid soap nuts cleaner in your home: Divide up the liquid in to spray or squeeze bottles (recycle store bought containers after thoroughly washing, for your soap nuts cleaners) Keep the liquid Soap Nuts, diluted as needed, in a squeeze bottle at every sink, in your shower, and in spray bottles for cleaning the kitchen and bath. If you need to store the Soap Nuts liquid longer than 2 to 3 weeks, keep it in the refrigerator.

Some customers add a drop or 2 of a favorite essential oil in tot heir cleaners for a fresh smell. However - always test your cleaners on the fabric or surface before using - especially when using the essential oil.
